Unfortunately, the country from which we won our independence does not celebrate that little milestone. So, the fourth of July came and went without too much fanfare here. Chris had to work today, but Casey, Nathan, and I made the most of the day. We finally had a little bit of sun, so we headed to the playground to get some Vitamin D. Nathan, of course, loved it!
Chris did manage to come home a bit early tonight, so we tried to go to the barbecue place by our house to get a little taste of home. It was completely packed, so we ended up at a restaurant a little further down the street. It was a complete disaster - the restaurant was much fancier than what we were looking for; Nathan proceeded to break a glass in the first five minutes we were there; and there was nothing on the menu that sounded remotely good to eat. We ended up getting Nathan's food to go (because we had already ordered it) and paying for our drinks and leaving. Needless to say, we don't have any pictures from our Fourth of July dinner. I don't want to perpetuate the myth about bad British food, so I will say that we have had lots of good restaurant experiences here, this just was not one of them :)
We ended the night with an impromptu dance party in the living room with Chris flickering the living room lights to simulate the fireworks show that we were undoubtedly missing at home.
We hope you all had a wonderful Fourth of July!
Glad to see you made the most of the 4th of July! :) Dance party and a light show is the perfect way to celebrate. Made me smile! :)
