Welcome Trenton Alexander Choi

On January 10, 2014, at 9:18 am GMT, Trenton Alexander Choi joined our family.  He was born at the  Kensington Wing of the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.  He weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.

He must have been ready to meet us, because he arrived a lot more quickly than any of us expected (including my doctor)!  They broke my water at 7:30; by about 8:30 I decided I thought I was about ready for my epidural; the next thing I knew, it was too late for the epidural and Trent was on my chest shortly thereafter.

Nathan is so excited to be a big brother and he is fascinated by Trent.  Every so often, he stops whatever he is doing and comes over to check on Trent and say hi to him and give him a little pat.  Then, he goes back to playing for a while, until he decides it is time to check on him again.

Trent has been a great addition to the family.  He is mellow and easy-going just like Nathan was as a baby and he is already a pretty good sleeper.  We are all in love with him and are very happy to now be a family of four.  I can't wait to see Nathan and Trent grow up together and be best buddies!

Arriving at the Kensington Wing - ready to meet our baby boy!
At this point, I was feeling good, and had no idea just how quickly everything would start happening :)

Uncle Casey Comes To Visit

In anticipation of our upcoming arrival, Uncle Casey came to visit us and to be our babysitter for Nathan when it was finally time to make our way to the hospital to have Baby Trent.  Luckily, Trent held out a bit longer than we were expecting, so we were able to enjoy a fun week with Uncle Casey without a newborn tagging along :)  Once Trent decided to join us, Uncle Casey got into super-babysitter mode and took Nathan to all kinds of fun places (most of them involving football).  Nathan absolutely loved having Casey here again!

Matt was in town for a night too!

We took Uncle Casey to one of Nathan's favorite places - the Namco Fun Centre.  Bowling and arcade games - what more could a little boy ask for?

Daddy and Uncle Casey took Nathan on a tour of Stamford Bridge.  Chelsea has been Nathan's new favorite team for a while now.  The only reason Dad is okay with that is because it's our neighborhood team :)

Nathan's first press conference.

Uncle Casey may have had some influence over Nathan while he was here.  Arsenal is Casey's favorite team.

Casey took Nathan to a Fulham match while we were in the hospital.  When the game was on TV later that night, we saw two familiar faces in the stands :)

Christmas 2013

With the baby due in early January, we couldn't travel back to the US for Christmas this year, so we had our first London Christmas.  It was also our first Christmas away from our families.  And, as hard as that was, it was actually really nice to celebrate Christmas with just our little family, especially since it was our last one as a family of three.  It was kind of a nice change of pace to have a mellow Christmas at home without having to rush around from one place to another.  And, Nathan was thrilled to be able to stay home all afternoon and play with all of his new toys that he had just opened.  Christmas really is magical, especially when you experience it through the eyes of a 3-year-old!

We hope you all had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

We don't have a fireplace, so we left Santa's pie (we didn't have any cookies :) and letter on the kitchen table.  I guess Santa thought that was the best place to leave Nathan his presents too :)

This little guy received an incredible amount of presents.  I'm still trying to figure out where to put everything :)
